The Appropriate Technology Collaborative (ATC) was founded in 2007 to empower the world’s poorest people with opportunity by design.
We believe it will take more than any single program, technology or individual to end poverty and create a truly equitable world with opportunity for all. ATC focuses its energy in grassroots development – collaborating with community organizations to build skills and co-create new solutions to apply directly. We take a multi-faceted approach to development which includes “software” (education, skills enhancement, leadership training, community building, and cross-cultural sharing) and “hardware” (infrastructure development and income-earning opportunities) to address community needs with their experience assisting in collaborative problem-solving, project planning and implementation. ATC and our collaborating partners create technologies and programs that provide opportunity, empowers people, and improves quality of life.
The Appropriate Technology Collaborative (ATC) is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to design, develop, demonstrate and distribute appropriate technological solutions for meeting the basic human needs of low income people worldwide. ATC works in collaboration with our clients to create technologies that are culturally sensitive, environmentally responsible and locally repairable in order to improve quality of life. Our programs and designs provide dignity and opportunity for the world’s poorest people.
Why We Do Appropriate Technology:
For the billions of people living at the base of the economic pyramid there are few opportunities to improve their quality of life. ATC creates new state-of-the-art technologies and programs that are affordable, sustainable and create jobs. We create the conditions necessary for people to improve their quality of life.
